The Obagi® Blue Peel® chemical peel helps to reverse the effects of aging, sun damage and other skin conditions. It improves skin's appearance by removing dead skin cells and promoting the growth of new ones. The Obagi Blue Peel chemical peel can be used by nearly anyone, regardless of skin color and type. A superficial-to-medium-depth peel, it is usually used on the face, but can be used on the neck, chest, hands, back, arms and legs. The Obagi Blue Peel chemical peel is used to treat:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Large pores
  • Hyperpigmentation

It is not recommended for pregnant women, and should be performed in a physician's office.

The Obagi Blue Peel Chemical Peel Procedure

The Obagi Blue Peel chemical peel uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA), combined with the patented Obagi Blue Base, to peel off damaged layers of skin. After the peel is applied, the patient experiences a slight burning sensation that lasts for a few minutes. Treatment time is usually less than an hour. Afterwards, treated skin has a bluish tint, which washes off within 24 hours.

Recovery from the Obagi Blue Peel Chemical Peel

Recovery time for the Obagi Blue Peel chemical peel is shorter than that of many other chemical peels. After treatment, skin may be swollen and look red. Skin starts to peel within 3 days, and continues to peel for a few days more. These side effects should end within 7 to 10 days after treatment. Work and regular activities can be resumed immediately after getting the peel, but sun exposure and makeup application should be avoided until the skin is fully healed.

After peeling ends, improved skin quality is immediately apparent. Skin quality continues to improve during the next 4 to 6 weeks but, depending on the condition being treated, the peel may need to be repeated several times in order to achieve the desired results. The Obagi Blue Peel chemical peel can be repeated every 4 weeks.
